Sheep Breeds

Farming at over 600 feet above sea level, sheep farming is the main source of income.  We have traditionally used Dalesbred ewes and crossed them with Teeswaters to breed Masham lambs suitable for both breeding stock and the fat market.
However we have now available a wide range of breeds available for the public to view first hand in our newly developed animal pens.  This gives everyone a small taste of the diversity of the different breeds of sheep around the country.
These rare breeds include Jacob, Wensleydale, Shetland, Manx Loghtan, Texel, Southdown, Zwartbles, Herdwicks, Ryeland.

The majority of the sheep have now lambed, so becareful driving down the road, they have no road sence.  Easter Sunday saw the arrival of chicks, so come along and get the oppertunity to hold one.  We now have another brood of chicks and the latest arrival are a large number of duckings so cute!!!!!

We now have Pigmy goats, called Bonny & Clyde.  Bonny delivered a female kid on Sunday April 30th and "Spotty" is the star of the show!!!!!!!!
